  1. We are from Germany and this was our first visit to a private supper club and the night and the dinner at Chopsticks or a Fork was just great. The food was excellent, she was a perfect host and we really enjoyed it! If we come back to NYC in the future I will always try to attend a supper club dinner at Chopsticks or a Fork! And not to forget to mention her lovely daughter who helped her and it is a real must go and do!

I highly recommend this series– was lucky enough to attend two dinners last fall and both were out of this world delicious.

First off, when you arrive, your chef is there in the kitchen and welcomes you with delicious amuse bouche style bites. She is busy cooking, naturally, but is incredibly gracious and friendly!

We had persimmon, shrimp chips, and sipped some champagne. Her home has a wonderful welcoming atmosphere; my friend who was just meeting her for the first time said it felt very natural. Spacious, full of lovely house plants, and really easy to find 😉

Our theme for the night was rolls and the first roll was to die for! Crispy, light, tasty, with just the perfect balance of vegetables and spices. It was served over tender noodles with sliced cucumber, grilled shrimp, and several other traditional accompaniments. All the ingredients are so fresh– you can tell Chopsticks or a Fork has the best suppliers. She made sure we used the correct sauce for each roll– and they were all made from scratch and amazing. Slightly spicy with a hint of vinegar and citrus was the first one, I believe.

The next two rolls were equally delicious. One was wrapped in soft cabbage leaves, another was lightly fried. There was also an amazing salad– which perfectly complimented the heaviness of the rolls.

Dessert, which we had to wait a little while to make room for ;-), was an amazing ice cream that I’m still looking for today– it was dark, but mildly fruity. I’ve got to ask her for the recipe!

I hope you go to this dinner– you’ll leave full of wonderful memories, and surely with some new friends!
